How Not To Interview For A Job.

Posted on Friday, November 16, 2007 in Thought Process

Over the past few days i have been helping my client recruit for an internet data specialist for their site. this below is a great example of how not to set up an interview. I think those of us that have interviewed with big and or professional companies know how to act. There are ways to get the info you are looking for and ways not too. And especially now that the web is very social you’d better know who looks or becomes a friend on myspace or other social networking sites. And how to act after initiating contact through a non confidential communication.

The Job listing on CraigsList.com

“We currently have an exciting new part-time position in our Raleigh office. Duties include updating inventory and entering new products onto our website. This specialist will also be responsible for listing items on ebay. This is a great position for someone who wants extremely flexible hours. This person will work from 10 to 20 hours week during normal business hours. This is not a work from home position.

The successful candidate will be someone who is well organized, independent and able to write clear and concise ebay listings. A background in English or writing will be helpful. Reliable transportation is also necessary

Please respond with qualifications.”

Email conversation and last minute cancel due to candidates un-professional manners and candidates last stab at professional company. (start at bottom and read up for time line)

Well honestly the job isn’t a career
opportunity…it’s just a few hours per week. Right
now I make $22/hr and I needed to know how close to
that I would be making. Most employers give you an
idea of what you’d be making. I would suggest in the
future that if you want quality help, that you’d make
that info. available. What fool wouldn’t be more
concerned about pay than the “job” not career?

Best wishes for finding a quality person,
April

Is this company in the wrong for not publicizing pay for part time position? Since pay would be dependent on qualifications and the candidate. Or is the candidate in the right being as bold as she was about pay for a simple part time position? If she was so concerned with pay why would she even submit resume to a position that does not announce pay and schedual an interview??

I’m Lovin Life Right Now

Posted on Friday, November 9, 2007 in Journal Entry, Thought Process

12:29 Am 11/9/2007 Life is good right now. I drive an exotic sports car. Money in the bank. Great friends. Date tonight scheduled with a beautiful girl. I mean [explicit deleted]…my life is exactly as I envisioned it. Okay maybe not exactly. I do still live in an apartment in little Tijuana. ha ha. I am reminded of an awesome quote I have had on my dream wall for years. “Hold an image of the life you want, and the image will become fact” -Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

How Dope is that? Power of Thought. Master Key To Riches”-Napoleon Hill.

Dudes for real…It may take 5 years but this [explicit deleted] is worth it! Fo Sho! It doesn’t matter. If the Dream is big enough the facts don’t count.

I wish I could give you a run down of the past 5 years since 2002. Soooo many [explicit deleted] times, so many days with out $, days where I had to heat water on the stove, days where creditors were calling on the phone. What I thought were friends saying I was crazy, “Friends” that totally forgot me. People that didn’t believe in what I believed in. People that didn’t believe me. Soooo many people that were un-accountable. Lied straight to my FACE! Straight up [explicit deleted] Lyers! You dont even know! Seriously you don’t even know the amount of tears that have paved the road to current success.

Yeah driving an exotic sports car looks cool but no one says [explicit deleted] about the total HELL I’ve been through. Nah…no one says [explicit deleted] about that. They just over look it since they weren’t there. They didn’t see me shed Tears for my goals. Than anint no BS. Thats real life.

I used to be so afraid of meeting people I would come home and lay down on my couch and cry my eyes out. And then get the [explicit deleted] up and go out and meet more people. Cause I had the intestinal fortitude. GUTS. That is why its hard for me to sympathize with losers. Stop rolling over and wetting your self! Step out and make things happen!

Making A Quality Decision Through An Emotional Time.

Posted on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in Journal Entry, Thought Process

There are times in our lives and business that we will have to make decisions that affect ourself and the people we care about weather thats family, friends, business associates, employees. And to get down to brass tacks we make those decisions every day. However there are times and occurances that not only our logic is in play for those decisions. Emotions play a large role in our decision making process. At times our emotions can be at extreme Highs and at times extreme Lows. Thats when it can be very tricky to make quality decisions. It has been in my experience that there are a few things needed to be done to make these points in our life be positive versus negative.

First is try to be level headed and un-emotional if possable. If that doesnt work weigh your pros and cons.

Write down on one piece of paper the negative effects of your decision possabilities and on the other wright down the positive affects.

Weigh the short term and long term affects of the potential decisions you make.

Calculate your risk. If in worst case senerio X happens can you live with it?

Get the unbiased opinion of someone that has a mutual interest in you success, not just in business but in life as well.  This is extremely important. One alwayse needs a”council” of people to go to in diffrent situations. “There is safety in a multitude of councilors”

If possable drop the issue for a few hours, or days if possable to stable your emotions and see through anything that could be clouding your judgement.

Theres always the option of Prayer. Depending on how you look at it a first step or a last option.

Hope this helps.

What is about to happen…

Soon will be proud owner of a Lotus, following in a matter of months a Ferrari. And business that back them up and pay for them fully.

EVERYONE Wants Their Own Business. But NOBODY Wants To Run It Like A Real Business…

Posted on Friday, November 2, 2007 in Thought Process

…Because That would mean you actually have set operating hours. Meaning you would have to actually discipline yourself to get up in the morning rather than sleeping in. God forbid you should actually be accountable to business partners, associates, clients, vendors and customers. I mean thats just crazy isn’t it? Or is it. As I mentally look around myself to my peers and see the lack of discipline, accountability and character, I actually start to believe and see why I’m in a better position than they are. However when I am around them I hear their complaints of their clients, associates and friends that are lazy and undisciplined. Why is it that we are so apt to see the faults, weaknesses in others but not ourselves? And as I write this I wonder if there are weaknesses that I have that bothers others that I cant see or Identify. If you are a person in my life and their are faults, weaknesses that you see in me…Please let me know straight up! Be gentile, but let me know. I’m in life for my self but only for the long term benefit of others. So help me out!
