PNB Taxes Theory

Taxes   Okay. For a lot of us, or maybe few of us. Taxes are a big issue this Election. The rich don’t want more taxes, and the middle class and poor want to take from the rich and redistribute.

Heres one of my personal views. If we keep it the same, keep lower taxes the rich stay rich. If we raise taxes and redistribute to the poor and middle class…Since they don’t know know how to handle their own money (obviously since they are in the situation they are in) they will just spend their money or put it back in the economy. As we all know most rich people own business in the economy which is most likely where the middle class and poor peoples money will end up after being redistributed to them.

So all in all if we redistribute the riches money, the poor and middle class will give it right back to those rich people mostly thru consumption.

So either way the rich still win. It may be a quick impediment but the rich still win and the middle class and poor still keep doing what they do to keep them in their situation.

In conclusion its all good either way for those who understand how it all works out in the wash…

  1. I agree with you for the most part Noah. A couple of things I’d like to add is that a lot of poor people don’t pay taxes. So this really will not affect them too much. Also, a lot of extremely rich people don’t pay taxes either. There are different ways and loopholes to get around it. It won’t affect them much either…

  2. I don’t really agree with your statement that the poor want to take from the rich and redistribute. The poor just want lower taxes..they don’t care if the rich get lower taxes too, but they just want to not pay as much, for the most part. This doesn’t mean they actually want to take anything from the rich. They are just struggling and always want to pay less—if others pay less, cool. if not, cool.

The main issue is if you lower the taxes that poor people pay, is that penalizing the rich for being rich? Some would say it is. Others would say that the rich have enough money anyway, so they can afford to pay more taxes, which would help not just the poor, but most everyone (better roads, schools, etc).

Wanted to just point out that’s how I see it. Still not sure what I think is the right/wrong answer to things…

  3. I believe you’re right…mostly. I would put it this way: the economy works best and grows strongest when you put more money into the hands of the masses. Perhaps it works the other way, as well, but now may be the time to try it this way.

Eddie and Jason make good points, too. Redistribution is not what the majority of people want, we just want to keep more of our hard earned money. The rich, of course, want the same, so I understand the unfairness, but the fact is, their accountants are able to do many things that may seem unfair, too.

What I find almost insulting is that you say the middle class don’t know how to handle their money. People are poor and middle class for many different reasons, so to say they’re just irresponsible is a bit near-sighted. Some, like myself, are happy where they are, therefore more than likely never become rich. Others have personal issues, i.e. family, education, health, that make it very difficult to move up. You should be proud that you don’t have those issues, but also humble about it.

Life is not a contest, the rich don’t “win” anything. The only thing a rich man knows, that a poor man doesn’t, is that money can’t buy you happiness.
